Winter Dam Observation Deck Amber Beacons

Copper-toned light washes over a concrete observation deck perched above churning, turbulent water. Two amber rotating beacons cast sharp, sweeping beams through thick, white mist that rests on the air. The dead of winter is evident in the frost dusting the metal railings and the bare, gray expanse of the water below. Heavy concrete walls rise vertically on either side, their surfaces rough and stained by years of exposure. Leading lines formed by the deck's architecture draw toward the distant, obscured horizon where the water roars. The low-angle sunlight creates long, deep shadows between the structural pillars, showing the scale of the infrastructure against the encroaching night. One reflection of the orange beacon glimmers on a wet patch of the gray floor near the edge.
