Neon Lit Roots in Maracaibo Hospital Ruin

by Luke Decker

Electric blue and violet light washes the cracked concrete floor of a derelict hospital corridor near Maracaibo. Massive tree roots fracture the walkway, splitting the stone as thick vines drape from the high, broken ceiling. Bright green nettles push upward through gaps in the masonry, their serrated leaves catching the artificial glow. The walls remain stark and clean despite the intrusion of nature, with no debris scattered across the surfaces. A rectangular window frame in the foreground acts as a border, framing the scene within the ruin. The monsoon season leaves the air clear of dust, allowing the sharp colors of the neon reflection to stand out against the gray stone and deep shadows of the late night.
