Neon Reflection on Wet Acapulco Alley Pavement in under an elevated train line in Acapulco de Juárez

Neon Reflection on Wet Acapulco Alley Pavement

by Joanne Arnold

Silver rain coats the cracked asphalt of a narrow back alley beneath an elevated train structure in Acapulco de Juárez. The wet ground acts as a dark mirror, distorting the glow of a distant neon sign into streaks of electric blue and magenta. Drizzle hangs in the air, catching the ambient light and turning the damp surface into a shimmering sheet. Concrete pillars support the heavy rail tracks overhead, their surfaces rough and stained with age. The Dutch angle tilt creates a slanted horizon where shadows pool against the base of the walls. A puddle near the foreground edge reflects the fractured light, holding the color until the next drop disrupts the surface.
