Midnight Moray Eel Under Volcanic Arch Belize

A dark moray eel slides beneath a rough volcanic rock archway, its scaled body contrasting against the deep shadow of the crevice. Above, the water surface breaks into rippled patterns that fracture the faint ambient light, creating a shimmering ceiling of suspended particles. The eel's skin glistens with moisture, while a sharp rim of light traces the curve of the rock arch and the animal's spine. Tiny specks of silt float in the column, catching the dim illumination. The water remains still around the creature, showing the texture of the volcanic stone and the fluid motion frozen in the moment. One scale reflects the fractured surface light.
