Moonlit Coral Overgrown Shipwreck in Cebu Shallows

by Ivy Osborn

Cold moonlight falls through the water, illuminating the rusted hull of a shipwreck resting beneath a reef ledge in the tropical shallows near Cebu. Soft pink and pale orange corals have claimed the metal structure, their fuzzy textures against the sharp, decaying edges of the ship's frame. A thick haze of plankton diffuses the light, softening the distant background into a milky gray void. The low angle view emphasizes the massive scale of the submerged vessel against the dark water column. Tiny suspended particles drift lazily in the current, catching the faint silver glow. at the edge is a cluster of delicate coral branches curling over a jagged piece of twisted iron, marking the slow reclamation of the metal by the ocean.
