Coral Overgrown Shipwreck Belize Reef Ledge

by Jeremiah Gallagher

Soft pink and pale orange corals carpet the rusted hull of a sunken vessel resting beneath a jagged reef ledge. Turquoise water fills the frame, illuminated by the fading golden hour light filtering down from the surface. The ship's metal ribs protrude through the living growth, creating a textured contrast between decay and vitality. A fine haze of plankton diffuses the background, softening the distant reef wall into a pale blue blur. Sunbeams pierce the water column, catching floating particles that drift slowly around the wreck's bow. The shallow depth of field keeps the foreground coral sharply detailed while the deeper shadows of the hull fade into the murky green of the lagoon floor. Tiny anemones rest on the rusted bolts along the deck railing.
