Copper Light on Wind Carved Clay Ridges in across a floodplain after rain near Isfahan

Copper Light on Wind Carved Clay Ridges

by Rick Nolan

Copper-toned light washes over a vast field of wind-carved clay ridges stretching across a flat floodplain near Isfahan. The eroded formations rise in parallel waves, their surfaces textured with deep grooves and sharp edges carved by persistent desert winds. A layer of heat haze shimmers above the ground, blurring the distant horizon where the sky meets the earth. Patches of wet, dark clay mark the lower areas of the floodplain, reflecting the fading sky. The ridges cast long, soft shadows that emphasize their height and the cool season air. At the edge of the frame, a single ridge slopes gently down toward the damp soil, its rough surface catching the last glow of the day.
