Andean Sage Plain Storm Channels at Dawn in in the Andes

Andean Sage Plain Storm Channels at Dawn

by Michaela Bolton

Pale gold light spills across a vast sage plain in the Andes, illuminating deep runoff channels carved by recent storm water. The dry season leaves the ground cracked and dusty, against the dark, wet sediment filling the gullies. Wispy clouds drift across a clearing sky, their undersides tinged with soft violet as the sun climbs. Wind-sculpted sagebrush bends in uniform directions, creating ripples of muted gray-green texture that stretch toward the horizon. The first rays of sunrise cast long, sharp shadows from the channel edges, showing the rugged topography. A small patch of exposed clay reflects the morning sky near the foreground, anchoring the scene in its high-altitude reality.
