Dawn shadows on cracked drought lakebed near Tongi
Pale morning light traces the jagged ridges of parched earth along a wave-cut shoreline near Tongi. Deep shadows swallow the lower terrain while a sharp rim of cool blue defines the horizon where the dry lakebed meets the rising sky. The ground splits into a chaotic mosaic of polygonal mud cracks, their edges rough and weathered by the dry season. Wind sculpts faint ripples across the dusty surface, lifting tiny grains of sediment that blur slightly against the stillness. Sparse, brittle tufts of straw-colored grass cling to isolated mounds, bending sharply in the gale. The vast expanse stretches horizontally, showing the isolation of the cracked soil against the fading night. A final sliver of light catches the highest ridge, highlighting the texture of dried clay.
