Meltwater Icicles Frame Storm Surge Barrier Tunnel

Pale gray concrete forms a massive tunnel portal framed by jagged, translucent icicles hanging from the upper arch. Reflected light from the adjacent water bathes the rough stone in cool, shimmering highlights, softening the harsh edges of the infrastructure. Above, dramatic clouds stack in heavy layers of charcoal and slate, pressing down on the turn-of-season landscape. The barrier stretches horizontally across the view, its utilitarian lines meeting the organic drip of frozen water. A cluster of thick ice formations hangs low on the left, their internal fractures catching the diffuse morning glow before the final drop of meltwater rests on the sharpest tip.
