Horseshoe Crab on Tanzanian Kelp Shelf Noon

Brass-colored carapace dominates the frame, resting on a sandy shelf where kelp fronds drape in translucent ribbons. The noon sun penetrates the water with flat, unfiltered intensity, turning suspended plankton into a soft, glowing haze that blurs the background. Fine grains of sand rest on the ridges of the crab's hard shell, while the surrounding kelp sways gently in the current. The water surface above creates a rippling pattern of light that shifts across the seabed. One shadow falls beneath the creature, grounding it against the pale sand.
