Hermit Crab in Amber Tide Pool Light in through kelp fronds beside a rocky shelf in Neve Tzedek, Tel Aviv

Hermit Crab in Amber Tide Pool Light

by Eva Sweeney

Rich amber sunset light falls through kelp fronds, illuminating a shallow tide pool beside a rocky shelf. A hermit crab moves across the sandy bottom between clusters of anemones, its spiraled shell resting on small pebbles. Suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the fading sun. The rocky edge of the shelf forms a rugged backdrop, while delicate anemone tentacles extend into the clear water. Early autumn light strikes the scene at a low angle, casting long shadows across the pool floor. A fine layer of silt settles on the crab's shell, highlighting the texture of its movement along the sandy surface.
