Moss Curtains in Dar es Salaam Rainforest Evening

by Tyrone Bravo

Thick emerald moss drapes vertically from ancient tree branches, forming heavy curtains that obscure the forest floor. The trunks of massive trees rise straight and dark, their bark deeply furrowed and slick with recent moisture. Honeyed evening light falls through the dense canopy, illuminating the wet surfaces with a warm, golden glow that contrasts against the deep shadows of the undergrowth. Humid air hangs visibly in the beam of the last light, catching dust particles and water droplets suspended in the space between branches. The ground is a carpet of fallen leaves and ferns, glistening under the fading sun. One root curls across a rock in the foreground, anchoring the scene with its rough, earthy texture against the soft, dripping moss above.
