Fireflies Over Misty Path Near Evora Moonlit Breakwater

by Hudson Baird

Steel-blue twilight washes the scene where a low-angle view reveals a misty woodland path winding beneath an early winter sky. Tiny points of warm amber light hover just above the damp earth, their glow punctuating the cool, dry air. A stone breakwater edge anchors the foreground, its rough texture against the soft, rolling fog that rests on the ground. Above, the dark silhouette of leafless branches frames the deep indigo expanse where stars begin to emerge. The bioluminescent dots drift in slow, erratic patterns against the cold, still air, creating a stark contrast between the organic warmth of the insects and the rigid, gray geometry of the stone wall nearby. A final beam of fading light catches the wet moss on the breakwater stones.
