Fireflies Dancing in Bolivian Alpine Meadow at Dusk in from a quiet alpine saddle in Bolivia

Fireflies Dancing in Bolivian Alpine Meadow at Dusk

by Abraham Robinson

Cobalt twilight washes a quiet alpine saddle in Bolivia, where the dry season leaves the grass short and brittle. Soft ground fog pools in the depressions between clumps of dry vegetation, glowing faintly under the first visible stars. Tiny points of amber light flicker and drift above the grass blades, creating a scattered constellation near the ground. The darkness presses against the edges of the frame, isolating the bioluminescent insects in their low-altitude dance. A cluster of fireflies hovers just above a patch of frost-dusted earth, their glow reflecting off the dew-heavy tips of the grass before fading into the deep blue shadows.
