Fireflies Blinking Among Gravestones at Night

by Paxton Vang

Steel-blue ambient light washes over a churchyard where early spring mist rests on the ground. Weathered gravestones of varying heights rise from damp earth, their surfaces rough and stained with age. Tiny points of warm yellow-green light flicker among the stones, marking the presence of fireflies moving through the low haze. The horizon glows faintly with the distant orange and white hues of city lights beginning to activate. Shadows stretch long and soft across the uneven terrain, while the mist diffuses the glow of the insects, creating soft halos around each blinking point. One stone at the foreground edge bears a shallow, water-filled depression reflecting the faint city glow.
