Fireflies Glow On Forest Trail Basque Night

Midsummer evening in the Basque Country brings a trail through dense forest into fading blue twilight. Small points of yellow-green light drift above the mossy ground, marking the path where ground fog pools in hollows. Tall trees rise on either side, their dark trunks and leafy canopies framing the narrow walkway. The air holds a cool, still quality as the sky deepens toward blackness. Each glowing insect creates a tiny, sharp star against the dimming wood. At the edge of the path, a wet fern frond reflects the soft bioluminescence, anchoring the floating lights to the earth.
