Blue Hour Flooded Rice Terraces Brazil in at the edge of a tea plantation in Brazil

Blue Hour Flooded Rice Terraces Brazil

by Joseph Lyons

Cool blue twilight washes over flooded rice terraces at the edge of a Brazilian tea plantation. Dark water fills the stepped fields, mirroring the soft gray clouds of the wet season sky. The terraces form geometric bands of deep indigo and charcoal, their edges defined by damp earth walls. Humid air hangs heavy over the water, blurring the line between the surface and the horizon. Silhouetted against the fading light, the curved contours of the rice paddies create a rhythmic pattern of reflection. Dark leaves of the adjacent tea bushes frame the upper edge of the view, their wet surfaces gleaming faintly. A small ripple distorts the cloud reflection in the foreground channel, breaking the perfect mirror with a subtle, dark distortion.
