Rice Paddy Cloud Reflections Near Bangsar Tea Plantation

by Evangeline Carpenter

Hard coastal glare strikes the standing water of a rice paddy, creating sharp, shimmering highlights across the surface. The still liquid mirrors a sky filled with scattered white clouds, doubling their presence against the green stalks. At the edge of this agricultural plot, rows of tea bushes rise in organized terraces, their dark leaves against the bright, wet mud. A low haze rests on the distant horizon, softening the outline of the Kuala Lumpur skyline and the surrounding hills. The wet season has left the soil saturated, and the water surface ripples slightly in the breeze. Along the furthest ridge, the water line meets the earth with a crisp, dark edge where the reflection of the clouds ends and the shadowed ground begins.
