Storm-Bent Rice Terraces in Rio Cool Season

Bright midday light floods the freshly irrigated rice rows along the Rocinha hills of Rio de Janeiro, where the cool season hangs heavy in the air. Water shines between the terraced ridges, reflecting the overcast sky while the storm bends the tall green stalks into a uniform curve. Layers of depth recede from the foreground, where individual blades glisten with moisture, into the distant mist that softens the hillside edge. The earth remains dark and saturated, against the vibrant emerald of the bending crops. one drop of rain slides off a drooping leaf tip, merging with the shimmering water channels below.
