Barreleye Fish Over Oregon Seagrass Meadow

Sunlight fractures into shifting patches of green and gold across the sandy bottom of an Oregon seagrass meadow. A barreleye fish hovers in the mid-water, its transparent skull revealing the distinct yellow-green tubular eyes oriented upward. The creature's dark body contrasts with the bright, dappled illumination filtering through the surface ripples above. Fine blades of eelgrass sway gently in the current, their tips catching the light. The water remains exceptionally clear, allowing a sharp view of the fish's delicate fins and the texture of the seagrass blades rooted in the sand below.
