Barreleye Fish in Portuguese Kelp Forest

Copper-toned light from the horizon wraps around a barreleye fish suspended in deep water. Its transparent head reveals internal structures, glowing faintly against the dark blue stillness. Surrounding the subject, kelp fronds from the Portuguese coast sway gently, their surfaces catching the fading daylight. Tiny suspended particles glitter throughout the water column, creating a field of scattered sparks near the fish's cylindrical eyes. The kelp creates vertical lines that frame the creature, while the copper hues of the upper water contrast with the deep indigo below. One kelp blade edge rests sharply against the dark background, defining the boundary between light and shadow.
