Garibaldi Fish Defending Territory in Hokkaido Kelp Forest

Bright noon light penetrates exceptionally clear water, illuminating a wide panoramic view of a kelp forest along a seagrass channel near the Hokkaido coast. An orange garibaldi fish hovers aggressively in the center, its fins spread wide as it guards a patch of swaying green fronds. The water surface above shows slow-moving ripples that fracture the sunlight into shifting patterns on the sandy bottom. Tall kelp stalks rise vertically from the seabed, their textures sharp against the pale blue backdrop. Seasonal transition is visible in the mix of lush green kelp and fading yellow-green seagrass blades. The fish casts a distinct shadow on the sand beneath it, anchoring its position in the still, weightless current.
