Monsoon Drip Along Concrete Dam Wall

by Phillip Phillips

Dark concrete walls rise steeply, their surfaces etched with hairline cracks where water beads and falls in rhythmic threads. Below, the river churns into white foam, a turbulent mass of gray and silver reflecting the dimming sky. Low-hanging clouds press against the upper masonry, obscuring the horizon. In the distance, the city begins to emit a scattered glow of amber and white lights, visible only as faint points behind the heavy atmospheric haze. The wet stone glistens under the fading natural light, creating a stark silhouette against the brighter water. One drop slides down a vertical fissure, catching the last ambient reflection before vanishing into the dark pool below.
