Abandoned Water Park Ruin in Castile Court
by Edna Bernal
Tropical bright light floods the late morning, illuminating a forsaken water park situated within an abandoned ceremonial court in Castile. Empty slides curve dramatically from elevated platforms down into dry, cracked concrete pools. The ground glistens with residual moisture from recent rain, creating humid air that hangs heavy over the scene. Layers of depth recede into the distance, revealing crumbling stone arches and weathered masonry typical of the region's architecture. Winter has stripped the surrounding vegetation, leaving bare branches that contrast with the smooth, wet surfaces of the slides. A dark shadow stretches across the bottom of the nearest pool, marking the edge where the concrete meets the damp earth. The silence of the place is palpable, yet the visual evidence of decay and abandonment remains the only story told.
