Steam rising from heating pipe trench autumn leaves

A straight concrete trench cuts through a carpet of rust-colored and golden Patagonian leaves, running parallel to a massive dam spillway. Thick white steam billows upward from the open channel, swirling against a backdrop of dramatic, towering cumulus clouds. The late afternoon sun casts sharp, elongated shadows across the rough stone of the spillway and the wet, glistening surfaces of the fallen foliage. Heavy industrial pipes line the trench edges, their metallic gray surfaces against the organic decay of the forest floor. The steam rises in dense, vertical columns, momentarily obscuring the water flowing beneath the spillway. One rivulet of condensation drips from a pipe joint onto a dry leaf, freezing the moment of engineered force against the wild landscape.
