Penstock Descending Patagonian Mountain Flank

Rust-colored steel pipes curve down the steep, rocky slope of a Patagonian mountain, anchored by heavy concrete supports. The late afternoon sun strikes the metal surface, creating sharp highlights against the deep shadows of the canyon. Below, a concrete spillway chute channels water, sending a fine mist of spray into the air where low-hanging clouds drift. Early winter air leaves the surrounding vegetation sparse and brown, clinging to the jagged rock faces. The structure dominates the view from a low angle, emphasizing its massive scale against the grey sky. A wet, dark patch on the lower concrete base reflects the overcast light.
