Grease-Gleaming Penstock Joint in Wyoming Sleet

Thick, translucent grease coats the flanged seams of a massive steel penstock expansion joint, reflecting the flat, white glare of noon. Fine sleet streaks across the frame, catching the light as it falls against the dark, industrial metal. Water spray rises from the spillway chute below, creating a mist that rests on the riveted surfaces. The joint stands as a monumental cylinder, its cold gray texture against the wet, viscous shine of the lubricant. Autumn leaves, brown and brittle, rest on the lower steel rim, while the background dissolves into a haze of rising moisture and clearing sky.
