Silhouetted Shiitake Log on Guadalupe Cliff at Twilight

Deep indigo twilight washes the Guadalupe cliff edge in violet shadows. A weathered log stands in silhouette against the fading sky, its bark rough and textured with visible moisture from the light drizzle. Small, dark shiitake mushrooms cluster along the wood, their caps catching the last faint light as raindrops bead on the surface. Salt spray coats the stone behind the log in a fine, crystalline layer that glimmers in the dim atmosphere. Bare branches of nearby coastal scrub mark the autumn season. Rain streaks the foreground, blurring the edge where the log meets the rocky ground. One drop slides from a mushroom cap onto the wet bark below.
