Copper-toned light washes over a cluster of seals resting on a jagged rocky shelf near Marseille. The view comes from behind, looking through floating kelp fronds that drift in the foreground. Late autumn air holds a plankton haze, softening the distant water into a muted blue-gray. The animals' wet fur reflects the firelight warmth, creating patches of orange and gold against their dark gray skin. A rocky outcrop rises behind them, anchoring the scene in the rugged Mediterranean coast. The stillness is palpable as the seals lie motionless, their forms blending with the stone.
