Bioluminescent Tide Pool Marseille After Rain

by Tucker DeJesus

Soft, diffused daylight falls through a plankton haze, settling over a volcanic rock tide pool along the Marseille coast. Small, glowing organisms pulse with a faint blue-green rhythm within the shallow water, their light barely visible against the grey stone. Seagrass blades sway gently at the water's edge, their green hues muted by the recent rain. The volcanic surface is rough and dark, against the translucent fluid. Droplets rest on the rock crevices, reflecting the pale sky. The water remains still, creating a mirror for the drifting particles suspended in the air above the pool. One ray of light hits the center, illuminating the pulsing organisms.
