Harbor Seal on Submerged Boulder Night Marseille

Cold moonlight penetrates the surface of the Mediterranean near Marseille, casting a pale, blue-grey sheen over a submerged boulder. A harbor seal rests atop the rock, its sleek, dark fur appearing almost black against the illuminated stone. Surrounding the seal, a dense haze of plankton diffuses the light, softening the background into a gradient of murky greens and deep indigos. Long strands of seagrass drift gently in the current, their edges blurred by the suspended particles. The water's surface above creates a rippling distortion, breaking the moonlight into fractured shards that dance across the seabed. Fine sediment rests on the boulder's rough texture, settling in the shadows cast by the seal's flippers.
