Sea Otter Diving in Kelp Forest North Beach

Deep shadow wraps the rocky shelf as the first light of early spring touches the water's surface, casting thin rim highlights along the floating kelp fronds. An otter glides downward through the dense, dark canopy, its fur appearing sleek and wet against the clarity of the water. Sunlight pierces the canopy in soft, vertical shafts, illuminating floating particles and the gentle undulation of the seaweed stalks. The animal's paws reach toward unseen prey on the rocky bottom, while slow-moving ripples distort the light above. One strand of golden-brown kelp hangs vertically near the otter's flank, catching the faint glow of the dawn.
