Rusted Swing and Hopscotch in Congo Court

Orange rust streaks the metal frame of a swing set standing in the center of a cracked concrete ceremonial court. The hopscotch grid, once bright, now shows deep fissures where green moss has taken hold. Late afternoon sun falls through the canopy, creating shafts of light that illuminate drifting dust particles above the wet ground. Puddles from the rainy season reflect the gray sky and the swaying, empty swings. The surface of the water ripples slightly, distorting the reflection of the rusted metal. One chain hangs limp, its links heavy with corrosion, resting against the damp pavement.
