Sunset light falls through turquoise tropical shallows near Belize City, casting a sharp silhouette of a flame scallop nestled in a dark reef crevice. The scallop's mantle bursts with vivid red tendrils that flare outward like a living flame against the dimming backdrop. Fine suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the fading golden rays and creating a field of floating sparks around the creature. Shallow depth of field blurs the textured limestone of the surrounding reef, isolating the scallop in a pocket of shadow. The red edges of the mantle glow intensely, defining the creature's shape against the deep blue-green water. A faint shadow falls across the scallop's shell, at the base of the glowing tendrils in the quiet underwater space.
