Transmission Towers on Foggy Ridge at Dawn in beside a storm surge barrier in Bolivia

Transmission Towers on Foggy Ridge at Dawn

by Kristin Felix

Steel lattice towers climb the crest of a grassy ridge, their dark geometric frames silhouetted against a pale, glowing horizon. Below, a thick blanket of fog fills the valley, obscuring the ground and softening the distant treeline. Low sun strikes the horizon haze, casting a warm, golden rim light along the edges of the metal structures. Heat shimmer lifts from the sun-struck grasses, distorting the air just above the ground. The storm surge barrier runs parallel to the ridge line, its concrete surface weathered and gray. Leading lines formed by the towers and the barrier guide the eye deep into the misty expanse. The turn of seasons leaves patches of dry, brittle grass mixed with lingering green, catching the early morning light. at the edge is a single rivet on the nearest tower catching a sharp glint of the rising sun.
