Snowmelt Steel Bands on Penstock Bend Over Miami Spillway

Thick rivulets of clear water cascade down the curved steel surface of a massive penstock bend, held in place by rusted horizontal bands. The metal gleams wetly under a gray, overcast sky while fine mist from the spillway chute below rises to meet the falling flow. Low-angle perspective emphasizes the civic scale of the infrastructure against the humid midsummer air. Patches of green vegetation rest on the concrete base, against the industrial gray of the pipe. Water droplets rest on the rough texture of the steel bands, highlighting the constant motion of the water. The scene shows the quiet, functional austerity of the drainage system during a brief sun shower, with spray catching the diffused light.
