Binturong Perched on Ridge Branch
Hard coastal glare flattens the early winter landscape along a wind-scoured South African ridge. A binturong crouches low on a gnarled branch, its thick black fur rippling under the relentless breeze. The animal's prehensile tail curls tightly around the wood for stability against the gusts. Dry grasses bend sharply to the left, mirroring the direction of the wind. Sunlight bleaches the pale bark of the surrounding shrubs while deep shadows pool beneath the branch. The creature remains motionless, a dark silhouette against the bright, washed-out sky. Its whiskers tremble slightly in the updraft, catching the harsh light. One tuft of white fur on the tail tip flips upward in the sudden gust.
