Marabou Stork on Ridge Near Tokyo in Mist

Thick white mist rests on the wind-scoured ridge, softening the jagged edges of a massive termite mound. A marabou stork stands tall atop the mound, its pale gray plumage against the dark, rough clay of the structure. Late autumn light falls through the fog, casting a cool, diffused glow over the scene. The bird's long, unfeathered neck stretches upward, head alert and scanning the horizon. In the foreground, a gnarled, leafless branch frames the stork, creating a natural window that isolates the subject against the hazy backdrop. The bird's heavy, wrinkled skin and hooked beak are sharply detailed, emphasizing its raw, untamed presence amidst the muted tones of the Japanese autumn landscape. The mist swallows the distant treeline, leaving only the mound and the bird visible.
