Iridescent Cloud Fragment Before Sunrise Tasmania in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Tasmania

Iridescent Cloud Fragment Before Sunrise Tasmania

by Arnold Lucero

A thin, shimmering fragment of cloud hovers in the cool pre-dawn air above a Tasmanian horizon. Stacked thunderheads form a dark, heavy wall of gray and charcoal below, their tops rounded and soft against the pale sky. The fragment itself catches the first faint light, displaying subtle bands of blue, violet, and pale green that ripple across its surface. Fine white snowflakes drift downward in the stillness, appearing as sharp, distinct points against the darker storm masses. The light is diffused and misty, casting no harsh shadows, only a gentle luminosity that defines the edges of the falling snow. A few flakes rest momentarily on the lower edge of the cloud fragment, creating a crisp boundary between the icy precipitation and the iridescent vapor.
