Iridescent Cloud Over Mauritius Wet Season
by Edith Cash
A small, shimmering fragment of cloud floats directly adjacent to the sun as it descends toward the horizon. The wet season atmosphere weighs heavily on the sky, creating a dense blanket of gray that contrasts with the fiery orange and gold hues radiating from the light source. This isolated patch of cloud displays a spectrum of iridescent blues and pinks where the sunlight pierces the moisture. Below, the island of Mauritius appears as a dark, textured expanse of green vegetation and coastal lines, viewed from a high, bird's eye perspective. The heavy overcast dominates the upper frame while the sun's firelight warmth illuminates the edges of the cloud fragment, revealing its thin, gaseous texture against the darker storm clouds. A sharp line of bright light defines the boundary between the cloud and the deep gray sky.
