Iridescent Cloud Over Kerala Thunderheads at Noon in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Kerala

Iridescent Cloud Over Kerala Thunderheads at Noon

by Adrienne McGee

A brilliant iridescent cloud floats beside the sun against a perfectly clear sky, casting no shadows on the landscape below. Beneath this singular formation, a horizon of stacked thunderheads rises in dark, layered columns over Kerala. The scene unfolds under the flat glare of noon, where soft overcast diffused light neutralizes harsh contrasts. The turn of seasons is visible in the muted green tones of the distant vegetation and the heavy, gray saturation of the storm clouds. From a birds eye view, the texture of the cumulus towers appears rough and towering, while the iridescent cloud displays a smooth, oily sheen of pastel pinks and greens. at the edge is the sharp, white edge where the iridescent cloud meets the deep blue of the upper atmosphere.
