Giant Lock Gate at Eluru Canal Sunset

Algae-streaked concrete walls rise vertically from a water-filled canal lock chamber in Eluru, their gray surfaces marked by dark green and brown streaks. A massive, ordinary metal padlock hangs suspended in the air, its size exceeding the height of the walls, casting a long shadow across the wet concrete floor. The sky glows with fading orange and purple light as rain clouds gather overhead, sending fine droplets across the water surface. Wind whips the ripples into sharp, whitecaps that crash against the stone edges. The oversized padlock rests on a floating platform, its rusted shackle gleaming under the last rays of the sun. Water reflects the impossible scale of the hardware against the industrial architecture.
