Sardinian Lock Moss Grows Sideways in Amber Light in along a levee path above floodwater in Sardinia

Sardinian Lock Moss Grows Sideways in Amber Light

by Fabian Kaur

Amber sunset light floods the canal lock chamber where black water rises against massive steel gates. Beside the keeper cabin, moss and grass cascade horizontally across every vertical surface, defying gravity as if pulled sideways by an unseen force. Raindrops speckle the green foliage clinging to the stone walls and rusted bollards. The levee path above holds floodwater, reflecting the copper sky in a shimmering layer. Thick vines stretch along the cabin windows, their leaves drooping toward the water rather than the ground. Steel beams show the weight of the wet vegetation pressing against the structure. one drop of water rolls sideways along a moss-covered rivet.
