Rain on Stone Hearth in Italian Winter Ruin

Rain streaks across the rough, grey stone of an exposed hearth in an abandoned Italian cottage. Early winter light reflects off a nearby body of water, casting a cool, silver sheen on the damp masonry. The sky above is a flawless, pale blue, against the dark, wet earth and scattered dry leaves. Moss rests on the lower stones, while the upper archway frames the open sky. Water droplets gather on the uneven surface before sliding down the vertical face. One crack runs through the central lintel, filled with a thin line of black soot and rainwater.
