Abandoned Station Ruins in Autumn Fog in among collapsed cloisters near Doncaster

Abandoned Station Ruins in Autumn Fog

by Takeshi Koch

Dappled sunlight falls through sparse early autumn leaves, illuminating sections of a collapsed railway station near Doncaster. The stone cloisters stand in fragmented rows, their arches broken and overgrown with creeping ivy that rests on the weathered masonry. A thin layer of fog hangs low across the grassy ground, softening the base of the crumbling walls and blurring the distant tree line. The light catches the rough texture of exposed brick and the smooth, moss-covered surfaces of fallen stone blocks. Rusty metal remnants of the station frame protrude from the debris, against the soft green and gold hues of the surrounding foliage. A shadow from a leaning beam stretches across a pile of rubble in the foreground, ending abruptly at a patch of dry, brown grass.
