Dam Gallery Dripping Copper Light Before Dusk in above a spillway chute with spray rising in Siguiri

Dam Gallery Dripping Copper Light Before Dusk

by Hailey Bravo

Rich amber sunset light washes over the underside of a massive concrete spillway chute in Siguiri during the rainy season. From a low angle near the ground, the rough, hairline seams of the infrastructure glow with a warm, metallic sheen. Water beads and slides down the vertical concrete faces, creating dark, glossy streaks that contrast against the dry, textured surface. Heavy spray rises from the spillway below, catching the fading light and hanging in the air like a fine mist. The wet concrete reflects the copper tones of the sky, while steady rain adds a rhythmic layer of droplets to the scene. One, heavy drop rests on the edge of a jagged concrete protrusion before falling into the shadowed void below.
