Castle Ruins on Hilltop Late Morning

Soft gray light diffuses across the weathered stone of a castle ruin perched atop a hill near Frankfurt. Thick monsoon moisture saturates the air, turning the crumbling masonry dark and slick with rain. Drifting dust particles catch faint shafts of light breaking through heavy cloud cover, illuminating floating motes around the jagged parapets. Moss rests on the lower walls, softening the sharp edges of decay. The low angle view emphasizes the towering height of the remaining archway against the pale sky. Wet gravel crunches underfoot near the foundation, while scattered debris lies across the uneven ground. A final crack in the central tower holds a single patch of green fern.
