Crumbling Hilltop Fort Ruin at Twilight in Himachal

Cool blue twilight light washes over the roofless nave of an ancient fort perched on a steep hillside in Himachal Pradesh. The sky above is a deep, clear indigo, devoid of clouds, while the valley below sinks into shadow. Weathered stone walls, stripped of their roof, stand in jagged rows where early autumn vegetation has taken root. Moss rests on the damp lower masonry, and small tufts of dry grass sprout from cracks in the crumbling masonry. A wooden beam, rotted and dark, rests across a broken archway. The texture of the stone is rough and pitted, absorbing the fading light. One shard of blue sky reflects off a smooth, wet stone near the foreground edge.
