Anvil Cloud Lightning Over Jamnagar Thunderheads in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads near Jamnagar

Anvil Cloud Lightning Over Jamnagar Thunderheads

by Clara Rivas

A massive anvil cloud spreads across the midday sky, its flat, white top glowing with internal flashes of lightning that illuminate the turbulent gray depths below. Stacked thunderheads rise in layers from the horizon near Jamnagar, their bases heavy and dark against the clear, dry mountain light. The wet season air hangs thick, visible in the way wind whips the cloud edges into ragged, fibrous textures. Layers of storm systems recede into the distance, creating a deep sense of scale where the nearest cloud towers dominate the frame. The surface of the anvil appears rough and cotton-like, catching the stark flash of electricity that ripples through its core, ending on a jagged edge of dark vapor against the pale sky.
